Collections

In the 1700 Catajo Castle  became very famous for its collection that gathered and started back a few centuries earlier, but increased strongly by the passion of Thomas Obizzi collector, they were entirely transferred primarily in Vienna and Prague in the late's 800 and 900 by means of  the Habsburg family.

The collection was the most prestigious among the archaeological finds from Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Etruscan and paleo-Venetian had more than 3500 pieces. Armory of about 2000 pieces and now housed in the halls of Konopist Castle, near Prague. The coin’s collection had 12,800 coins from all periods, then a collection of 170 musical instruments, a collection of paintings that includes works by El Greco , Rubens, Durer, Carpaccio, etc. Guariento. Finally, among many other collections include the most unusual ones, that of exotic animals and marine stuffed shells, minerals, exotic plants and bulbs.

This brief description mentions only a small part of what was preserved in Catajo but may give an idea of the vastness and importance of its impressive  enlarged collection that enrich  the museums of central Europe, so as to define  Catajo Castle in the 700’  one of the wonders of the Venetian state.
